WEDDINGS

Congratulations, you have decided to get married.
We are delighted that you may be thinking of
getting married at St John’s in the presence of
God and before your family and friends.
Christians believe that God is love and that he
calls us to live in love with him and with one
another. Marriage is one of the patterns in
which a life of love can be expressed. The
marriage service is a public declaration of love
and commitment between a man and a woman.

We hope that you will find answers to many of
the questions you may have on this and the
linked pages.

The rules regarding whether you can get married in any particular church were changed in October 2008. It is now possible to get married at St John's if one of you:

  • has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

  • was baptised at St John's or

  • was prepared for confirmation in the parish or

  • has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in St John's church for a period of at least 6 months

Or one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

  • has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

  • has regularly gone to normal church services in St John's for a period of at least 6 months

Or one of your parents or grandparents was married in St John's.

How much will it cost?
