I am sure most of you will know of Samaritans and its national profile probably helped it to top the button voting to be the national charity that St John’s will support this year.
Samaritans’ purpose is to be there for people who are struggling to cope and in times of crisis. This can be people who are having a difficult time as well as those worried about someone else.
They provide a national phone line and want to expand to digital channels such as webchat. They are available 24/7 and want to increase their volunteer capacity and its diversity.
Like most charities, they are impacted by insecure funding and rely on support from people like us.
We are hoping to arrange a speaker from Samaritans so that we can hear more about their work, so watch this space.
