Conditions of Hire

  1. The Hirer is responsible for leaving the facilities in good condition, as found. Damages and/or breakages must be reported and may be charged for.
     
  2. The Hirer is responsible for the security and supervision of the premises, for protection of the fabric and content, and for the behaviour of all persons using the premises.
     
  3. Fire exits should be clear at all times.
     
  4. It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the premises are safe for the purposes for which they intend to use them. Hirers are reminded of their responsibility for any accident or injury arising out of the activity for which they have booked the premises. The Hirer must adhere strictly to Health and Safety Guidelines provided at the time of booking.
     
  5. The Hirer should ensure that those attending do not obstruct the public highway outside the main church gates. The roadway is narrow at this point and we endeavour not to inconvenience emergency services and those who live opposite the church.
     
  6. The Parish Room must not be left unattended at any time during the hire period.  The Hirer must remain until the end of the event. All evening events must end by 11pm and the Parish Room must be vacated by 11.30pm.
     
  7. The Parish Room is not licensed for the sale of alcoholic drinks.
     
  8. The Hirer is responsible for keeping the key safe, and for returning it to the Parish Office at the end of the letting period.
     
  9. On rare occasions it may be necessary to cancel, or override a booked session - for example, maintenance access or a church related obligation having priority. Every effort will be made to give the Hirer maximum notice. The church’s liability is limited to return of the booking fee for the session(s) affected. 
     
  10. The hiring agreement is subject to one month’s notice of cancellation on either side.
     
  11. Should the Hirer default on the conditions of hire, St John’s reserves the right to terminate the hiring agreement with immediate effect.
